A new year....new leash on life....
I think its about time I update my blog....lots have dogs, both Danes and other breeds have passed through my life and been adopted. My newest foster is a deaf and vision impaired Dane named Sawyer. He's currently around 104lbs and 9 1/2 months old. He is a foster through MAGDRL. He came from Pender County in NC. Someone dumped him in the woods and animal control picked him up and called MAGDRL. That was on July 22, he came to my house on July 23 and has been a member of my pack ever since. Sawyer is still looking for a forever home. He is such a sweet boy, although he does have some behavior issues. He likes to resource guard me as well as toys. He loves big sister Piper....she will have to be another post.....she is my official first Great Dane, also known as a "foster failure" through MAGDRL. She is 13 months old and quite a handful still! She and Sawyer love to play and get in trouble together. Back to Sawyer, he's a very special boy, I am currently working on sign language with him and also touch to learn his basic obedience. Hopefully when the weather gets nice here we will be able to begin agility, I think he will enjoy it!!

No new fosters...
....since I'm slack and haven't been updating this.....as of today I have no new fosters. In March I fostered 3 deaf/visually impaired brothers! Dylan, the first brother (and the largest) got adopted first and went up to PA....way too far! I hear from his new family pretty frequently and he has other Dane brothers and also a German Shepherd puppy his age to grow up with. Einstein, the next one got adopted a little while later and stayed right here in NC! I get to see him sometimes at some of our Meet and Greets. He also has another Dane brother and some other fur brothers and sisters. Woohoo!!! And last but not least, Rory has been adopted and now lives in NJ. He has a Dane brother and Dane sister to play with. These puppies were all very special to me and it was so much fun to foster them. It was really hard to part with these sweet boys but I know they are all doing great and will have awesome lives! Titan was probably pretty happy when they all got adopted so he could have all my attention back though! We are back in action going to Meet and Greets and my big boy is as happy as can be!

Raleigh and Chance...again
Someone isn't keeping quite the foster log she planned so I've decided to update it for her so she can keep her journal of fosters going...
Raleigh went to his new home last month - the home of another foster family in the MAGDRL program. They'd been looking for a blue dane and fell in love with Raleigh.
Chance has been accepted into a lab rescue in Virginia. He'll be transported to northern NC on Friday and will then have one more day of transport until he reaches his final destination near DC.
Molly (the pit bull) has been listed on Petfinder and will remain as a "foster" until she can be placed.
And finally...once Titan and Roxy settle from the recent chaos, I'm sure another dane will come along and there will be more excitement from the crazy farm! :)

Meet Chance
Chance is a black lab/hound mix that was found at a worksite in G'boro a couple weeks ago. He unfortunately didn't have a microchip so... a keeper he became! Don't let him fool you, while he enjoys hanging out with his foster brothers and sisters, he's really hopeful for his own forever home. Chance loves his people and wants to be with them constantly. If he can't see you, he'll let you know he's looking for you!
Chance had a minor soft tissue injury on his rear leg but this will heal and he'll be good as new. He's also heartworm positive. He'll be on Heartgard for three months then his blood will be rechecked. It may be that this will rid his body of the worms or it may take a more aggressive injection therapy. We'll know more in two more months.
Chance is ~12 months old and full of puppy energy. I'm sure more photos will follow! He's too handsome not to share!

Raleigh the puppy

Raleigh is a 7-week old dane puppy who has already had two surgeries in his short few weeks of life. He was born with glaucoma so severe that his right eye had to be removed. He also had a procedure due to a herniated umbilical. Raleigh had a second procedure on his eye not even a week after the first. It looks much better now and he is full of spunk and energy! Raleigh will be adopted when he is 12-weeks old by someone in North Carolina. Til then he's enjoying playing with his foster brothers and sisters!
