New addition

Well I just found out Sunday I will be fostering a tiny puppy! WooHoo! He is a 7 week old Dane, not sure what color yet. Me and my sidekick Terri will be picking him up this Friday night in Raleigh. Long story short.....a breeder brought him to the vet to have his eye looked at and he also had a hernia; the eye ended up having glaucoma very bad, they are having to remove his eye. The hernia is also large. A very nice vet tech would not let the lady take him home to euthanize and instead contacted us! The vet will be doing surgery to correct both ailments on Thursday and as long as everything goes well he will coming to Goldsboro this weekend for LOTS of love for a while until he finds his furever home!
I did find out today at lunch time that he only weighs about 9lbs!!! Very tiny....half the size of Duke the cat!

Welcome to my blog....not sure if anyone will read this except my brown-haired twin. I will not promise a funny story every day but hopefully a couple. I will start with Titan, my big brindle boy. He came from the Humane Society at about 9-10wks old, already neutered....not sure how i feel about the whole early spay/neuter thing. Probably a good thing for the idiots who don't ever get their pets sterilized. That will be another day's post....spay/neuter. Anyhow, Titan grew into a 100lb gorgeous momma's boy! He is a Great Dane/Plott Hound mix. He is a very smart dog that is obedient about 90% of the time, the other 10% he is off in the field eating fish and whatever else he can find that will make him stink and empty his stomach contents. His counterpart Roxy, is usually right there by his side. She is a Chow mix....with who know's what else! We still have yet to figure it out. My brother found her in a parking lot limping around and somehow she became part of our pack. She is Titan's small fluffy twin....she is also brindle, but a red brindle. She gets her attitude from her Chow ancestors. These two can always be found causing trouble together!
Now to the main reason for this blog....I have always enjoyed helping "save the dogs" and will continue to do so as long as possible. Me and Titan have started volunteering/fostering with the Mid-Atlantic Great Dane Rescue League. They have such an awesome rescue to work with and I hope to one day adopt a Great Dane from them.
The first boy we helped was Boris, we assisted with a transport and a one night sleepover with him. What a gorgeous black Dane he was; he didn't last long as he was such a young boy(16mos) and a very nice family adopted him.
My first true foster was Sadie. I had her about 4 weeks. What an awesome experience. She has been adopted by a wonderful family in SC. She is a 6-7mo deaf merlequin full of spunk!! Sadie was a very intelligent girl and wanted nothing but a warm lap to sit in! The house is quiet without her as Titan loved romping around the house playing with her....and even Roxy enjoyed having her around, that is very rare for my Roxy girl! I really enjoyed having her and miss her TONS!
I can't wait to get another foster......
